About Vada Media and Steve Bustin

I founded Vada Media in 2002 with the aim of bringing my experience as a BBC Broadcast Journalist and senior PR Director to a wide range of clients. It's very unusual to have both current journalistic and PR experience and it means I have a strong nose for a story and I know how the media works, what makes a journalist or editor tick and the best way to work with them, to the benefit of my clients.

I'm interested in all aspects of media and communications - indeed for a while I had a business card that listed my job title as ‘media whore'. While I no longer use that moniker, I'm still fascinated by the way people communicate and what makes one person an effective communicator while other people struggle.

Over the last 10 years I've worked both on my own and with associates, who I bring in when I feel a client would benefit from specialist knowledge and skills. I've worked with in-house press office teams when they've needed support and also run off-site press office facilities for clients and on-site press offices for major events.

My client base has included large businesses, charities and organisations and also SMEs, start-ups, entrepreneurs and community groups. I've worked across both B2C and B2B clients and have developed specialisms in the health, medical and cosmetic surgery field, arts and culture and the LGBT marketplace, although I continue to work with many clients outside these sectors.

My approach to business is informal (I don't do suits) but professional at all times. Clients often say I'm fun and stimulating to work with, helping them find not only new ways of communicating but also new ways of thinking about their business.
